Fees for Psychological Services

Insurance in Ontario

In Ontario, provincial healthcare (OHIP) does not cover fees for psychological services.  You may be eligible for full or partial coverage under your extended health insurance plan or employee benefits.  Contact your insurance provider to find out more about your coverage.  Be sure to ask about services provided by a licensed psychologist.

Rates

Fees are agreed upon ahead of time.  Psychological services are billed at an hourly rate.  A flat fee for assessments may apply, depending on the assessment type.
  • Assessments take an average of 8-12 hours, depending on the type of assessment and the complexity of the case.  Assessments include a clinical interview, testing, scoring, report-writing, and a feedback session to discuss results.
  • Treatment sessions are billed at an hourly rate.  Sessions are 50 minutes in length to allow time for clinical record-keeping and associated tasks.
  • Consultation services are free for the first 10 minutes.  After that, the hourly rate applies, pro-rated to the nearest half hour.

Payment

Fees are payable by credit card, cheque, or internet bank transfer.

Please note that I do not bill directly to insurance companies.  You will receive a receipt for psychological services that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement through your extended health benefits and/or claim your medical expenses for a deduction on your income tax.

Cancellation Policy

We ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancelled sessions.  Clients who do not provide 24 hours notice for a cancelled session may be charged.
